EdChoice: Expanding access

Certified EdChoice provider

Maumee Valley Country Day School is now a certified EdChoice provider, which can benefit every Ohio Maumee Valley family who chooses to apply to the program.

We joined the state of Ohio’s EdChoice program in the fall of 2023 following a decision by the Ohio legislature to expand the scholarship to every K-12 student.

The expansion provides students the opportunity to attend an approved private school at a reduced cost by taking their state-allocated funds with them.

What doesn’t change at Maumee Valley:

  • The EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion programs do not limit our curricular freedom.
  • Our students will not have to take state of Ohio tests. We will maintain our curricular standards and continue to use alternate testing, as we have in the past with the ERBs, PSATs, and ACTs.
  • Our participation will not change who we admit or what our students learn.

Explaining EdChoice

EdChoice traditional and expansion scholarships are available to all Ohio students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Traditional does not require income verification and is awarded to any student from a designated public school. Expansion requires income verification and is awarded to any K-12 student in Ohio. (View a step-by-step guide to Ohio’s income verification process)

We encourage all Ohio families to apply for EdChoice. Families who request Flexible Tuition from Maumee Valley also must apply for EdChoice; EdChoice awards are factored into Flexible Tuition packages.

EdChoice application process:

Step 1

If an applicant to Maumee Valley is accepted for enrollment, the family can then submit the required documentation to us: a completed EdChoice Scholarship Program Request Form, the child’s birth certificate, and proof of current address (current month utility bill or monthly mortgage statement less than 60 days old).

Step 2

Maumee Valley submits the EdChoice Scholarship application to the state on the family’s behalf.

Step 3

Once the EdChoice Scholarship application is approved, the accepted applicant is issued an enrollment contract reflecting the scholarship amount along with any additional scholarship or Flexible Tuition.

EdChoice award amounts

Depending upon grade and income, EdChoice families can receive an award ranging from $850 to $8,407 per child enrolled in grades K-12.
